Founder. Salvador Albalat, MD
Dr. Salvador Albalat is a board-certified physician and dentist practicing in Valencia, Spain. A graduate of the University of Valencia with degrees in Medicine and Surgery, as well as in Dentistry, he completed specialized training in surgery. With over two decades of experience, Dr. Albalat is a leading expert in his field, having published numerous research papers and given lectures at international conferences. He also received a grant from the Spanish Ministry of Science for software and hardware development applied to surgery and computer-aided diagnosis at the Polytechnic University.
In addition to being an accomplished surgeon and academic, Dr. Albalat is an inventor and entrepreneur who is always seeking to improve medical care. He is the founder of several startups focused on neurosurgery, dentistry, and surgical and diagnostic systems in psychology. In collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Valencia, he is a co-author of several patents.
One day in the clinic, a patient fainted due to hypoglycemia. This event inspired Dr. Albalat to find a solution to prevent similar situations in the future. He immediately called his colleague Dennis Majoe from the Zurich Institute of Technology and said, “Dennis, we need to investigate this.”
Thus, Dr. Albalat postulated that bioimpedance technology could be incorporated into the treatment and management of dental conditions. He applied the concept of bioimpedance to medical management and realized that bioimpedance platforms could be applied as a non-invasive methodology not only for oral conditions but also for accurately measuring critical biomarkers in the blood. This led to the birth of Wito Smart Health.
Over the last few years, through much effort and personal financing of the project, Wito Smart Health has been bringing to market the first non-invasive device, The Caddy, to help consumers monitor critical biomarkers such as continuous blood glucose and total cholesterol with great accuracy and in a non-invasive manner. No more skin pricks.
Currently, Dr. Albalat is developing proprietary wearable technology for the diagnosis and treatment of chronic diseases. We are grateful to Dr. Albalat for his insights, intellectual savvy, and drive in changing the medical management landscape globally.
